Warehouses and transfers
Warehouses hold freight between transport legs. A warehouse exchanges cargo with vehicles through a station whose catchment covers it; road access to the warehouse itself is unnecessary. Towns and industries cannot withdraw its stock directly, so provide the onward transport to the consumer.
Choose storage around the cargos using the transfer:
- Universal Warehouse: mixed cargo shares the module’s storage pool.
- Bulk Warehouse and Flatbed Warehouse: specialised modules for their supported cargos.
- Liquid Warehouse and Goods Warehouse: specialised storage for those cargo groups.
Each specialised module holds one chosen compatible cargo. Two cargos in the same group still need separate modules. Universal storage is useful when several cargos share a transfer and you want a common pool; specialised storage offers faster handling and pauses the stored cargo’s delivery timer. Pausing preserves the remaining time during storage. It does not reset the timer or complete the delivery: cargo still needs to reach its destination.
The reference below lists module capacity, handling modifiers and restrictions. Each family article includes its era variants. When planning a transfer, check both incoming and outgoing station catchment, compatible loading facilities, and the module assigned to each cargo. Storage makes a buffer, but does not replace an onward service.
See the official warehouse manual for configuration controls.
