Stops, terminals and maintenance
Choose a facility for the job at each stop. Cargo needs a producer, consumer or warehouse within the station radius. Passengers also need a valid path that stays reasonably close to the covered area; proximity alone does not establish access.
Loading and unloading
Section titled “Loading and unloading”Roadside stops allow passenger boarding and cargo unloading, but do not load cargo. Use Road terminals when trucks need to collect goods. Universal cargo handling serves varied loads; specialised handling speeds up compatible cargo. Check the specialisation against every cargo using that terminal.
Match vehicles and facilities
Section titled “Match vehicles and facilities”Match the route’s vehicles to the facilities as well as the network:
- Harbours distinguish small and medium piers; large ships require the larger landing.
- Airfields accept small aircraft. Check the Airport article for its options.
- Railway stations and tracks need electrification where electric trains operate.
Maintenance coverage
Section titled “Maintenance coverage”Buying vehicles and maintaining the network are separate facility roles. Read the Road Depot, Train Depot and dedicated Train Maintenance Building articles for their service radius. Service radius describes maintenance coverage; it is not a station’s passenger or cargo catchment.
Before adding another stop, identify the missing function: passenger access, cargo loading, unloading, vehicle purchase or maintenance coverage. The official stations and depots manual explains placement and configuration controls.
